2020 John McCarthy Memorial Raffle

JM Golf

The 17th Annual John McCarthy Golf Raffle

To benefit School District 25 high school activity programs.

Due to complications related to COVID-19, we are unable to host the usual scramble this year. Instead we'll be raising money for PCSD #25 in the form of a raffle in John McCarthy's name. Visit our table at Riverside on Saturday, July 11th to purchase your tickets!

When: July 11, 2020 at Riverside Golf Course (8am-6pm)

How It Works:

Although COVID-19 put a dent into planning the 17th Annual John McCarthy Memorial Golf Tournament, we are still honoring the legacy and supportiung local schools by raffling off some amazing prizes! All proceeds will be donated to PCSD #25 High School Extracurricular Activities in loving memory of John. All proceeds made from raffles and donations will be matched by ISU Credit Union.

There will be no scramble this year. Still, in an act of support, Riverside Golf Course has graciously blocked out prime tee time spots from 8am-12pm, just for John McCarthy Memorial supporters! You will have first choice in those times, although you can come anytime that day.

Don’t golf? No problem! We’ll be set up right outside the clubhouse. Anyone and everyone is welcome to support the raffle.

Call Riverside Golf Course at 232-9515 to reserve one of our premier tee-times! (Players will be responsible for their own players fees and carts.)

  • Who was John McCarthy?

John McCarthy was an educator, coach, and mentor that devoted his life impacting everyone around him at Pocatello/Chubbuck School District #25 for 33 years. After his untimely death in 2003, his colleagues put together a golf tournament in his honor, with all proceeds going to PCSD#25 Extracurricular Activities Fund.

  • Why are you doing a Memorial Raffle this year, and not a Golf Tournament?

Instead of a tournament this year, we will be doing a “Golf Raffle” on July 11th, 2020 (the original date of the tournament). We felt like this was the best solution to still raise money for PCSD #25, while following the social distancing guidelines, yet still have the tradition of golf in John’s memory.

  • How does the raffle part work?

ISU Credit Union will be set up at Riverside Golf Course on July 11th, between the hours of 8am-6pm selling raffle tickets for some awesome prizes! All proceeds from the raffle tickets and all donations will be matched by ISU Credit Union. Tickets will be $10 each, or 6 for $50.

  • How does the golf part work?

We still encourage golfers to come out on their own time to play in John’s memory! There will be no team registration, or shotgun scramble start. Riverside Golf Course has graciously agreed to block out prime tee time spots from 8am-12pm, just for the John McCarthy supporters. You will have first choice in those times, although you can come anytime that day! *Players will be responsible for their own fees.

  • How do I book a tee time?

To book your tee time, please call Riverside Golf Course at (208) 232-9515 and letting them know you are a part of the John McCarthy Memorial Raffle.

  • Do I have to golf to support you that day?

Not at all. We will be set up outside the clubhouse from 8am-6pm. You are more than welcome to just come by and purchase your raffle tickets, no need to golf!

  • If I can’t make the Golf Raffle on July 11th, how else can I help?

If you would like to make a donation with a check, you can mail or drop off:

    275 S. 5th Ave
    Pocatello, ID 83201
    attn: John McCarthy Memorial Golf

Or, if you would like to purchase raffle tickets, please call Thips at 208-406-3577

  • Are there any opportunities for my business to support the tournament?

Yes! We will take a donation of any amount, or if you are interested in donating an item, please contact Thips at 208-406-3577 or tsibounma@isucu.net

  • Where can I learn more?

You can learn more, or follow any updates by visiting our website, or our Facebook event page, or by emailing or calling Thips at tsibounma@isucu.net or 208-406-3577.
